# Rede

Rede is voice dictation for Mac. You hold a shortcut, speak, and finished writing is pasted at the cursor. There is no Windows or iPhone app. Rede is not a meeting transcriber.

Speech becomes text on your Mac. The audio never leaves the machine. Cloud cleanup sends the text, not the audio. Without it, Rede adds light punctuation on the Mac. Rede does not call that 100% private. The complete picture is at https://torede.com/local/
